The second week of November, the boys wanted to go camping for one final time before the winter, the weather was still pretty mild and so I agreed. However, after working a long week the thought of sleeping in the cold and on the hard ground wasn't as appealing as it normally could have been. So I did what any self respecting woman would do, I begged and pleaded with my sons to not make me do it. They felt sorry for me, so the compromise was to get everything loaded in the truck and the trailer on Friday night and we left really early Saturday morning. We had a great day together. It was so awesome to see them having that much fun again. It felt like the "old days" when we used to go and do this kind of thing more often. I have been accused of not being as "adventurous" now that dad isn't here. What they mean is that I have not been as spontaneous, so I am working on that.
We took the 4wheeler, fishing poles, 22 rifle and new air soft guns with us.

However, with a motorcycle close by, there wasn't much fishing this time. The boys did stop riding for awhile and had some air soft wars and then went out in the brush trying to stir up some rabbits to plink with their rifle. Thankfully, there were no rabbits to be found....
As I said, it was a great day. At the end of the day, just before loading the 4wheeler back on the the trailer and being the great mom that I am I wanted to teach the boys a lesson and what is better than an object lesson. I demonstrated to them what would happen to them if they behaved recklessly on the 4wheeler. After doing several brodies, I allowed the 4wheeler to throw me about ten feet into the air and onto the hard, gravel covered ground, while it flipped a couple of times, (Nick says he caught in and threw it back over when it was about to go for the third flip.) Tyler said, "Mom, I actually felt my heart stop when you flew off." Sounds like he may have learned what I was trying to teach him....As I said, I am a great mom. The truth is they were doing it first and said, "Mom, this is so much fun you need to do it. I said no I'm good", but then I caved into the pressure of it all and had to prove that I could do it. I don't know which story is worse. It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it is hilarious. I can kind of chuckle about it now, kinda. I wasn't seriously hurt, (nothing some pain pills and muscle relaxers couldn't fix) My pride is another story.... I got some good road rash in some areas the worst being on my right arm, there is still a quarter size hole in my arm that is still healing. (They wanted me to include the picture of my arm but it is nasty so I am not going to, trust me you don't want to see it.) Not to mention the damage to the 4wheeler. Once they realized that I was okay, they were bummed about the damage to the bike and the fear t

hat they would never get motorcycles.
