Nick

Most of you know that Nick has fallen in love. With golf that is! He and Tyler spend alot of time golfing together in the summer. They love it so much that if I am not home they will walk to the course bags on backs and everything. Nick is an awesome kid, he is a great big brother. I'll share more later about all of that.

Nick has made the high school team the last two seasons. This year, he made Varsity. Being on the team has actually saved both of us alot of money because they "practice" everyday, except for tournament days. Practice is playing 9 holes of golf on their home course, EVERYDAY.....They generally start about 4-6 weeks before school starts and dont stop until the end of their season which is the end of Sept usually. So by then he is a little burnt out and ready to put the clubs away.
As soon as golf ends he starts dreaming about snowboarding, another expensive sport. It is nice that he worked this summer so he can afford all of his "hobbies"! He is really excited about snowboarding this year. Once again he has bought a season pass for the Canyons and cannot wait. We still dont have any snow. The resorts have been making snow but we dont have any of the good Utah powder as of yet. He begs me to go with him all the time but I feel too old and out of shape for that. Maybe I will go this year and get some cool pics of him.....

4Wheelin'

The second week of November, the boys wanted to go camping for one final time before the winter, the weather was still pretty mild and so I agreed. However, after working a long week the thought of sleeping in the cold and on the hard ground wasn't as appealing as it normally could have been. So I did what any self respecting woman would do, I begged and pleaded with my sons to not make me do it. They felt sorry for me, so the compromise was to get everything loaded in the truck and the trailer on Friday night and we left really early Saturday morning. We had a great day together. It was so awesome to see them having that much fun again. It felt like the "old days" when we used to go and do this kind of thing more often. I have been accused of not being as "adventurous" now that dad isn't here. What they mean is that I have not been as spontaneous, so I am working on that.
We took the 4wheeler, fishing poles, 22 rifle and new air soft guns with us. However, with a motorcycle close by, there wasn't much fishing this time. The boys did stop riding for awhile and had some air soft wars and then went out in the brush trying to stir up some rabbits to plink with their rifle. Thankfully, there were no rabbits to be found....
As I said, it was a great day. At the end of the day, just before loading the 4wheeler back on the the trailer and being the great mom that I am I wanted to teach the boys a lesson and what is better than an object lesson. I demonstrated to them what would happen to them if they behaved recklessly on the 4wheeler. After doing several brodies, I allowed the 4wheeler to throw me about ten feet into the air and onto the hard, gravel covered ground, while it flipped a couple of times, (Nick says he caught in and threw it back over when it was about to go for the third flip.) Tyler said, "Mom, I actually felt my heart stop when you flew off." Sounds like he may have learned what I was trying to teach him....As I said, I am a great mom. The truth is they were doing it first and said, "Mom, this is so much fun you need to do it. I said no I'm good", but then I caved into the pressure of it all and had to prove that I could do it. I don't know which story is worse. It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it is hilarious. I can kind of chuckle about it now, kinda. I wasn't seriously hurt, (nothing some pain pills and muscle relaxers couldn't fix) My pride is another story.... I got some good road rash in some areas the worst being on my right arm, there is still a quarter size hole in my arm that is still healing. (They wanted me to include the picture of my arm but it is nasty so I am not going to, trust me you don't want to see it.) Not to mention the damage to the 4wheeler. Once they realized that I was okay, they were bummed about the damage to the bike and the fear that they would never get motorcycles.

Hi everyone! What an awesome way to keep in touch with each other and to see what is happening in our lives. I was introduced to this site by a good friend named Rachael. I met her this summer while she was in Salt Lake visiting family. A member of her family was in the hospital and was a patient that I took care of. Rach and I hit it off right away and felt like we had been friends for a long time. Rachael actually lives in Milan, Italy and is living what I tease her to be a "fairy tale princess" life. Now that she is back home in Italy, her blog has been a fun way to see what she is up to and to see some of the Italian sites that she visits.

So that is why I have decided to give this a try. I may not post to it all the time because the life of a single working mom isn't always the most glamourous or newsworthy, but the boys do some pretty cool stuff. They are growing up so fast. For those of you who havent seen them in awhile you would be surprised at how big they are getting. And not just their physical height but their character as well. I feel like the luckiest Mom in the world to have them. I don't know what I would do without them. They are really amazing young men who take great care of their mom......

I will definitely be back tracking for the first few posts because there is some fun things to get caught up on. So come back often and see what is happening in our world.....Love you all...
